NY Dance quickly expanded, moving from three temporary locations in 2012 to a permanent home, reflecting its success and growth.
The studio now serves over 500 students of all ages, demonstrating commitment to making dance accessible and thriving in the business.

Natalie revamped her approach to studio business in 2009 by doing things her own way with a clear focus on the two main points of non-competitive dance and inclusivity.

The first 14 years of running her studio was done the ‘old way’ reflecting a time when for most ‘women in business’ a dance studio was really considered a hobby business and there was no way the a woman could earn good money from running a studio.
She replicated what she knew as far as what a dance studio looked like, and in all seriousness, although her first dance studio was a place that cultivated gorgeous dancers who were valued and treated as unique individuals, the profits from that first ‘business’, were next to nothing.
After a few years break, and the pull back to teaching dance growing stronger, she opened NY Dance in 2009 deciding that this time, she would follow her heart and make decisions centred around teaching anyone to dance who wanted to learn, so focusing in on inclusivity, but the difference being able to actually make a profit (and draw a wage).
The studio grew fast, so fast in fact that in 2012 she was working out of three different locations, with parents and students that she never saw and never knew.
The decision to find a permanent home for NY Dance was made (and found) and the studio has grown to more than 500 students from ages 12 months through to adults taking classes every week.

The second time round as a studio owner, Natalie knew that she did indeed, want to make money, and while you may find this statement confronting, it’s perfectly reasonable to want to be paid in exchange for the brilliant service that you give in your studio business.
What she did know about business is that to make a good profit, you need multiple streams of income, because you will be limited to a certain amount of income from each of your streams, but together they work to be able to give you the money you need to be able to:
A. firstly run a good dance studio business that is profitable and
B. finally make profit (not just making ends meet)

Our studio has loved adding 'Little Dance Stars' to our program! Finding something that brings our early years program under one cohesive banner has been so beneficial to our studio and we love the amazing support given by the Little Dance Stars team.
